Jeff Koons, Made in Heaven
Jeff Koons, Made in Heaven
Artist, Jeff Koons, began to make a series of life-sized sculptures of him making love to his pornstar wife, Cicciolina. I thought it would be good to post about an art piece I do not like after posting about the ones that interested me the most. This one did catch my eye, but for all the wrong reasons. I was astonished at what I saw. At the beginning I did not like them at all. They are offensive and I do not believe the whole world should be seeing this scene. Sex is art made my God but I do not believe it was appropriate to be put in a museum for all to see.
Whitney Museam wanted Koons to create this work about a billboard for the show "Image World: Art and Media Culture." He actually created a series of sculptures, pictures, and photographs with Ilona Staller and actually destroyed most of them after she left him with her son for Italy.
To go along with this piece I found poems made in the 1990's, around the same time this series was made, and I think they go along just right. One of the poems by Connemara Wadsworth called desire could really go with this piece. It was a poem about sex and would fit quite well.
